Swedish rights defender denied entry to Belarus
Human rights defender Martin Uggla from Sweden on May 7 was not allowed to enter Belarus in order to watch a wold ice hockey championship match.
Martian Uggla had a valid ticket to a Team Sweden hockey match, but Belarusian border guards told he was a on a black list and could not enter the country. In a comment to Radio Svaboda, the rights activist said Belarus border guard officials told him he had two options: to wait for a flight back to Stockholm next day or to fly to Kiev today. He refused to fly to Ukraine.
Uggla is being held at a transit area. He is yet to learn how and when he will be deported.
His ticket for a hockey match is most likely to remain unused.
