Taxes and fees to be banned from referendums in Belarus
MPs will vote on changes in the Election Code on Wednesday, October 2.
The main innovation is one-round elections – the candidate who gets more votes will win the election, it will not be required to get 50% plus one vote anymore.
Head of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna explained to Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus why it will not be allowed to vote on taxes and fees. “Everything connected with the budget policy will be removed from referendums,” Yarmoshyna stressed.
The budget policy, election and appointment of officials, changes and approval of the budget and introduction or cancellation of taxes cannot be voted on now.
