Thousands attend Nemtsov funeral (LIVE)
A civil funeral is taking place in the Sakharov Centre in Moscow.
People are parting with murdered leader of the Russian opposition Boris Nemtsov in Moscow on March 3. A killer shot at him on the night of February 28. Thousands of people have gathered to attend the civil funeral in Sakharov Centre. Nemtsov will be buried at Troyekurskoye Cemetery.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and PM Dmitri Medvedev will not attend the funeral. However, 28 EU Ambassadors will.
Boris Nemtsov was 55 years old. He was one of the leaders of the Russian opposition movement, took part in street actions ad was arrested. He was the governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in the 1990s and Minister of Fuel and Energy, senior vice PM and an MP. Nemtsov was a member of the Union of Right Forces, opposition movement Solidarity and the co-leader of the Republican Party of Russia – People's Freedom Party (RPR-PARNAS) since 2012.
