UDF leaders to discuss 'Lyaukovich case' on April 21
The leadership of the United Democracy Forces (UDF) will discuss 'Lyaukovich case' on Tuesday instead of today. UDF leaders are outraged by the comments made by Lyaukovich, the leader of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) in an interview with presidential newspaper Sovietskaya Belorussia. Belaruspartisan.org notes that an extraordinary meeting will discuss the unity of the pro-democracy opposition.
Anatol Lyabedzka, one of UDF leaders, said that if Social Democrats support Lyaukovich's views, the party could be expelled from the United Democracy Forces, reports bdg.by.
Anatol Lyakovich told the newspaper that it was in vain for democratic forces to oppose Lukashenka, because "he was elected and has been supported by the majority of people".
Lyakovich also said that his party would seek contacts with the authorities "in order to become a full-fledged subject of the systemic political process".
