Ukraine signs association deal with EU
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko used Yanukovich's pen to sign a partnership agreement with the European Union.
The economic (final) part of the Association Agreement on June 27 was also signed by the leaders of all EU member states.
РMoldova and Georgia also signed the partnership deals with EU.
The Ukrainain newspaper Ukrainska pravda reports Poroshenko used the pen with which Ukraine's former president Victor Yanukovich was expected to sign the deal in the fall of 2013. Poroshenko brought the pen from Vilnius.
The President of European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso described the moment of signing as a historic event but stressed it was only the first step, an attempt to help those countries carry real reforms and defeat corruption.
