Post-election protester Uladzimir Yaromenak jailed for 3 months
Young Front activist Uladzimir Yaromenak is found guilty of non-compliance with 'preventive police supervision'.
The prosecutor, the defense lawyer and the defendant made their speeches in Minsk's Pershamaiski District Court on Tuesday.
The lawyer said the case was not legitimate. The case against Yaromenak was opened on May 16, he noted. Nevertheless, the Young Front member was informed about it only two months later – on July 14 (the day his wedding).
"I was being pushed out abroad," Yaromenak said. He had a choice on his wedding day: to go to prison or to leave Belarus for a long time.
Anatol Lyabedzka, Andrei Dzmitryeu, Dzyanis Sadouski and Nasta Dashkevich (Palazhanka) came to support Yaromenak.
Yaromenak was accused of faling to comply with the requirements of preventive police supervision. The prosecutor demanded six months in prison for the activist. The sentence will come into power in ten days and will be appealed.
