Vasil Bykau’s 90th anniversary marked today

Most Vasil Bykau’s works were dedicated to war and showed people’s moral choice in dramatic moments of life. He was criticized for ‘defaming the Soviet life style’ and his works were censored in the USSR. The uncensored versions of the writer’s books began to come out only at the end of his life.

Vasil Bykau died in 2003. Dozens of thousands people came to bid farewell to him in Minsk.
