Victor Sheiman detained for speeding near Moscow
Russia's traffic police officers on August 16 detained a Toyota Land Cruiser owned by Gen.-Col. Victor Sheiman, Belarus president's special envoy for overspeeding on a highway in the Moscow region. The general was driving the vehicle himself. The car was driving at 140 km/h.
The Belarusian official initially was escorted by Russian road patrols. Police checkpoints were later ordered not to stop this vehicle. But, the road patrol at the 131st kilometer of the Moscow-Minsk highway had not received a notice. The officers are now facing a disciplinary punishment.
