Vladimir Putin personally opens Crimean energy bridge

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Crimea and opened the first part of the energy bridge connecting Kuban and Crimea, Russian mass media report.

Crimea is expected to get 400 megawatts of energy with the help of the bridge. The second part will be opened in 2016, Russian Minister For Energy Alexander Novak announced. It will fully provide Crimea with Russian energy.

The energy bridge cable started being installed in the Kerch Strait in October. It was supposed to be opened in 2016. However, the work was accelerated after the energy supply from Ukraine had stopped.
