The opposition will not be able to organize a successful election campaign if it does not rally around one candidate, leader of the Movement For Freedom Yuras Hubarevich announced at a press conference in Minsk on July 11.
"Choosing a single candidate is a step-by-step process and we are very close to making a joint decision. The right-of-center coalition is holding consultations at the moment,” Hubarevich noted.
The opposition will not be able to organize a successful election campaign if it does not rally around one candidate, he believes. That is why a single opposition candidate is needed. The previous election results testified to it. “Candidates representing separate political forces could not even collect enough signatures to be registered,” Yuras Hubarevich reminded.
The right-of-centre coalition supported the leader of the Movement For Freedom. The decision to choose a single candidate was made at the moment of the creation of the coalition, co-leader of the BCD Party Vital Rymasheuski reminded. There will be a single candidate but it is difficult to predict whether the whole opposition will be united, UCP leader Anatol Lyabedzka noted.
