Writer Sasha Filipenko explained that he does not plan to write in Belarusian, at least for now. The statement was made during the literary festival "Pradmova" in Vilnius.

"Because I do not feel that I have the strength to write well in it. I really do not like how some Belarusian authors write in Russian and then take their books to be translated - and pretend that they were not translated, that they wrote in Belarusian from the beginning. It seems to me that coquetry and literature cannot exist side by side," Nasha Niva quotes the writer as saying.

At the same time, Filipenko promises that all his books will be published in Belarusian. And new books will be published first in Belarusian and then in Russian. By the way, the writer has already spoken about this.

"I understand that when I write even some essays in Belarusian, or when I speak, there is a kind of stop, when I start thinking about the word that I have to find now. This is not the language that I speak perfectly and feel the power of. There are translators who do a good job. I don't know what will happen in a few years, but now - no," admits Filipenko.
