Yanukovich’s associate: Union state with Belarus and Russia will split Ukraine

The Ukrainian people will not support the idea of creation of a union state with Russia and Belarus with its capital in Kiev. According to “New Region”, a deputy of the Supreme Council, representative of the party of the regions, Mihail Chechatov has claimed it. Commenting on the idea of an interstate union, the parliamentarian claimed that it would lead to a dissent in the country. In his opinion, the idea of such a union may be discussed only when 99% of the population supports it.

"We are trying to build up equal partnership relations with all countries: America, Europe and Russia. With everyone! As soon as Yanukovich took the position, Europe opened the door for us, Barack Obama has invited us and Russia has started thinking about us as a partner”, - noted Chechatov.
