Belarus mulls over amnesty timed with V-Day
Amnesty is expected in Belarus to mark 70 years since victory in World War II.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office have decided to announce an amnesty dated for the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War this year, Head of Corrections Department of the MIA Syarhei Darashenka told SB. Belarus Today.
It has not been decided which crimes will be amnestied this year and whether it will apply to people imprisoned for drug crimes.
The amnesty bill will be presented to the Parliament before April 16.
