Another ‘Belarusian spy’ caught in Lithuania
He was a sanitary instructor in the Lithuanian Army.
A Kaunas inhabitant who served as a sanitary instructor in the Lithuanian Army is going to stand trial in Lithuania. He is accused of spying for Belarus, Interfax refers to the Lithuanian Prosecutor General's Office.
The suspect’s initials are ‘A.O.’, he is 28 years old. The man has a secondary education, is single and has no previous convictions. He is reported to have been selling information to the Belarusian Army for five years. The man was a paramedic (sanitary instructor) in the naval infantry battalion of Grand Duke of Lithuania Algirdas.
Belarus was interested in military equipment, armaments, the purpose of buildings in Lithuania, participation in NATO’s international operations, military exercises and soldiers’ personal characteristics and morale.
The man was detained on January 24 and is jailed at the moment.
Lithuanian special services also detained a Belarusian ‘spy’ who had worked for the state enterprise Oro navigacija. The two cases are not connected.
