Artist Ales Pushkin to stand trial for Freedom Day perfomance

Famous artist Ales Pushkin will stand trial at 11 a.m. on May 3 at a district court in Krupki, Minsk region. He will be tried for the perfomance that he staged on Freedom Day to mark 90 years of Belarus's first declaration of independence. Pushkin was originally expected to organize the action on March 25. He had to shift the date, because his house had been blocked by the police for two days. During the performance, the artist placed a table with a cake on it at the central square of the village of Babyor. Pushkin wanted to give away cake pieces to local residents.

Pushkin was detained during the action. He received a summons to the district court in Krupki one month after his temporary detention.
