Battle in Donetsk stopped
The fighting stopped at night, antiterrorist operation press officer Aleksei Dmitroshkovski reported.
According to him, terrorists have suffered major losses, UNIAN reports. Militants were presented with an ultimatum on Monday – their safety would have been guaranteed if they had left the airport. They refused to do it and their elimination started.
The antiterrorist operation will continue until all militants are eliminated, Dmitroshkovski reported. ‘High-precision’ weapons may be used for it.
The Ukrainian troops started the antiterrorist operation on May 26. It was directed against militants who had seized Prokofyeu International airport in Donetsk. Two SU-25 planes made warning shots at first. The militants shot back from all their weapons. Two MIG-29 planes and 4 Mi-24 helicopters joined the battle after that. Paratroopers landed later.
