Belarus-Chinese industrial park Great Stone has 35 residents
There are 35 residents in the Belarusian-Chinese industrial park Great Stone, head of the park's administration Aliksandr Yarashevich said during the visit to the park by Vice President of the People's Republic of China Wang Qishan, reports BELTA.
According to Mr Yarashevich, there were only 8 residents in late 2016. On 26 May 2018, the park welcomed a 35th member. The list includes 19 residents from China, 9 companies from Belarus and the rest from other countries.
After inception in 2010, Belarus began to build the park in 2012 under an intergovernmental agreement between China and Belarus. The project is located 25 km off Minsk and 15 km off Smaliavicy. The plan is that the park will occupy over 100 sq. km.
The park focuses on nanotechnologies, electronics, biomedicine, pharmaceutics, fine chemicals, optics and mechanical engineering. The plan is that it will sell products to CIS and EU countries. Belarus President Aliaksandr Lukashenka stated earlier he would not rule out that the park could host companies working for the military-industrial sector.
