Belarus extradites Uralkali chief to Moscow (video)
Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner accompanied by Russia's Department of Correction agents on an Aeroflot plane reached Moscow at 22.17.
The extradition of Vladislav Baumgertner was first reported by Belarus TV Channel 1.
The Office of Belarus' Prosecutor General decided to extradite Baumgartner on Thursday.
Vladislav Baumgertner was detained on August 26 at the Minsk airport after a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich. The Investigatory Committy of Belarus said the Uralkali CEO caused damages to Belarus' national interests. Baumgertner was charged with office and power abuse. According to investigators, the damages amounted to $100 million. Uralkali CEO'charges were changed later and now he is suspected of theft.
Baumgertner was held in a KGB pre-trial jail for one month to be later transferred under house arrest in a rented apartment in Minsk. The criminal case has 19 volumes, which were passed over to Russia. The extradition request was sent by Russia in later October.
