According to the first half of the year, the fall in Belarus' GDP amounted to 4.2% year-on-year, experts of the Eurasian Development Bank said. At the same time, in June, the rate of the Belarusian economic contraction slowed down a bit. In June, GDP decreased by about 7.8% (this is in relation to June 2021), and in May, the fall was 8.6%.

“It is quite likely that the Belarusian economy is beginning to adapt to operating under the conditions of sanctions,” the EDB experts believe. They still think that Belarus' GDP will decrease by 6.5% by the end of the year. But the bank notes that this forecast can be improved if the Russian economy does not fall as significantly as it is currently predicted.
