Belarus Government lifts ban on price rises
The resolution was adopted on March 31 and entered into force on the date of adoption.
The Government of Belarus by has overturned the ban on price rises for goods. Previously, it was prohibited to raise prices over those in effect on December 18, 2014. The resolution of the Council of Ministers #250 dated March 31 allows sellers to raise prices, BELTA reports. The decision came into force on March 31, but was made public only on April 4.
The resolution directs the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Communication and Information, the Belarusian Republican Union of Consumer Societies, Regional Executive Committees and Minsk City Executive Committee to ensure the availability of a wide range of consumer products, including online stores.
The responsibility for the presence of Belarusian non-food products in the consumer market will lie with the Deputy Prime Minister Anatol Kalinin and Uladzimir Syamashka. For food products on Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy. For price stability and a wide range of goods in retail trade responsibility lies with the First Deputy Prime Minister Vasil Matsyusheuski.
