Belarus hopes to take advantage of West's sanctions against Russia
The economic sanctions imposed on Russia may open up additional markets for Belarus, reckons Belarus foreign policy chief.
Russia is our country’s main trade and economic partner, Belarus foreign minister Uladzimir Makei is quoted by Interfax news agency as saying.
Belarus has also taken the influence of the Ukrainian events on our economy, Makei noted. “The turnout with Ukraine has decreased a bit this year but the balance is still good,” he said. The Minister is confident the political crisis in Ukraine will not affect the high level of Belarus-Ukraine trade and economic relations.
