Belarus' MFA: EU's decision is counter-productive but has a positive side
Belarusian Foreign Ministry comments on EU's decision to extend sanctions against Belarus for another year.
"We note the tendency for decrease of the sanctions," BELTA quotes Belarusian MFA spokesman Andrei Savinykh as saying. "This is a positive step, although the decision is counter-productive in general. These sanctions have no perspectives and should be withdrawn. It is impossible to build up a proper partnership between Belarus and the EU in the interests of the citizens at such a background."
The day before it became known that the European Union had prolonged the sanctions against the Belarusian officials for a year. The Council of the EU took the corresponding decision on October 29. The EU official journal published the updated variant of Belarusian 'black list' on October 30.
