Belarus ranked 3rd on world's suicide list
Belarus is holding the third position in the world by the number of suicide cases, Yuahen Lasy, the chief of medical psychology at the Belarusian Medical Academy of Further Training, said in a statement. Lithuania tops the sad list and is followed by Russia. The specialist noted that the number of suicides has dropped in the recent years in Belarus.
There were 35 cases per 10,000 people in 1996 against 27.5 per 10,000 people in 2007. Men reportedly tend to commit suicide more often than women, reports Interfax
