Belarusian arrested for solidarity with Ukraine goes on hunger strike
Minsk's Central District Court judge Victoria Shabunya on December 20 sentenced Maxim Vinyarski to 15 days of administrative detention.
He was punished for a picket of solidarity with the Ukrainian Maidan near the Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk on November 30.
The court found the activist guilty of staging an unauthorized mass event. According to the human rights center Vyasna, the activist asked to postpone the sentence for a month due to his mother's illness.
Maxim Vinyarski went on a hunger strike in protest against judge Victoria Shabunya's ruling.
The same judge awarded a fine to activist Ilya Dabratvor for staing a picket in solidarity with the Ukrainian Maidan on December 12.
