Belarusian and Russian track and field athletes have been confirmed a ban on participation in European competitions "until the end of the war in Ukraine," the European Athletics Association reported on March 15.
The sanctions against athletics of Belarus and Russia were introduced on March 1, 2022, at the beginning of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
The statement emphasizes that the position on the ban for athletes and officials remains unchanged. It concerns both competitions and all other events.
At the same time, the European Athletics Association promises further support to the Athletics Federation of Ukraine, "so that athletes from this country can still realize their potential, despite the tragic situation in the country".
