Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei took part in the Belarusian Embroidery Shirt Day in Minsk on June 25. He invited the heads of accredited diplomatic missions and their families to the event. Belarusian folk bands Pawa and Guda performed at the informal event.

Like the majority of the present, Makei was not wearing a traditional embroidery shirt. He was in a stylish modern embroidery shirt adorned with the Belarusian ornament.

The meeting is a contribution into the Belarusian identity development, the Foreign Minister said.

National ornaments ‘unites Belarusians with other Slavic peoples’, Makei noted. He is hoping that the tradition of celebrating the Embroidery Shirt Day will keep developing, the MFA press service reports.
