Belarusian militiamen to be allowed to keep weapons at home

Volunteers of the people's militia will be allowed to keep weapons at home, said the deputy of the lower house of parliament Yauhen Zaitsau, a member of the Standing Committee on National Security.
"The bill provides for the storage of weapons with the volunteer. They will be stored at home. The order of storage of these weapons will be determined by relevant documents and regulations of the Council of Ministers," he said, reports BelTA.
On June 15, members of the House of Representatives passed the bill "On the People's Militia" in the second reading. Now it must be approved by the Council of the Republic.
The units of "people's militia" has been created in Belarus since 2022. Their task is to help the police and army against "subversives" and "illegal armed groups".
Defense Minister Viktar Khrenin said that opponents of the authorities would not be allowed to join the militia.
