Belavia cancels flights to Crimean capital Simferopol
The National Airline’s reference service has announced it, BelaPAN reports.
The European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation banned flights to Crimea, namely to Simferopol and Sevastopol, on April 2. It will not recognize ‘any unilateral declarations of the aeronautical telecommunication service over any part of the Ukrainian territory unless they are issued by the Ukrainian authorities’, Eurocontrol claimed.
A referendum guarded by Russian soldiers was held in Crimea on March 16. It was announced that 96% of voters had supported the idea of joining the Russian Federation. The majority of states did not recognize the referendum results. Belarus did not recognize them either. Alyaksandr Lukashenka stated that Crimea had become part of Russia de-facto.
