Boeing on fire lands on Caribbean island
An American Airlines plane caught fire in one of its engines en route from Port of Spain (capital of Trinidad and Tobago) to Miami.
A Boeing 757 landed on a Caribbean island on the evening of October 22. The left engine caught fire and the pilot told the air controller about smoke in the cockpit and decided to land as soon as possible.
The Boeing landed on Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands belonging to Great Britain. There were 175 people on board, no passengers were injured.
