BPF, UCP and For Freedom activists to stand trial in Minsk
Participants of the Freedom Day street action allowed by Minsk authorities will stand trial on April 28. March 25 is the traditional date of celebration of the independence of the Belarusian People’s Republic. The oppositionists are accused of violating the order of organization of mass actions (article 23.34 of the Administrative Code) because the itinerary was slightly changed, human right defenders report. The police made a lot of reports about administrative violations then.
Minsk Soviet District Court will start considering the cases of BPF leader Alyaksei Yanukevich and leader of Minsk city affiliate of the United Civil Party Mikalai Kazlou at 10 a.m., BelaPAN reports. Deputy head of the Movement For Freedom Ales Lahvinets will stand trial in Minsk Central District Court at 5 p.m.
Co-leader of the steering committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Vital Rymasheuski has also been summoned to court, spring96.org notes. The cases of activists Kasya Ludvih (10 a.m.) and Mikalai Kolas (2.30 p.m.) will be considered in Minsk Soviet District trial.
