Charnobylski Shlyakh application filed with Minsk authorities
An application for Charnobylski Shlyakh, traditional street rally, was filed with the Minsk City Executive Committee on April 8 in Minsk. Among the initiators were the representatives of the seven political and public oprganizations (the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front, the movement "For Freedom", the Belarusian "Green" Party, the United Civil Party, and others). They plan to gather participants of the Charnobylski Shlyakh on Tuesday, April 26, at 18:00 at the Academy of Sciences. At 19:00 people are going to walk along the Arlouskaya and Surhanava streets until the Orthodox Church on Karastayanava street. There will be held a meeting and laying of flowers, BelaPAN reports.
Charnobylski Shlyakh has been annually held by the representatives of the democratic forces in Minsk since 1988. The campaign is designed to attract public attention to the consequences of the Charnobyl accident and the nuclear power in general.
