CNN: Russia’s intervention into Ukraine is ‘very likely’
The U.S. intelligence has warned the White House about the likelihood of Russia’s intervention into continental Ukraine, CNN reports.
Two representatives of the U.S. administration anonymously told journalists about a secret report describing the dislocation of the Russian troops near the Ukrainian border. It resembles the manoeuvres conducted by Russia before the wars in Chechnya and Georgia.
Republican senators sent a secret letter to the U.S. President in connection with the report. They expressed anxiety in connection with the events, BBC notes.
The armed forces committee thinks that Moscow may occupy East and South Ukraine, reach Transnistria and try to seize territories in the Baltic States.
According to the American intelligence, Russia has already brought 30 thousand soldiers to its western border and is ready to cross it at any moment.
