Convicted Russian Cossacks to remain behind bars in Belarus

Brest Regional Court has upheld the ruling of a lower court to convict three Russian nationals who took part in a cavalry march Moscow-Berlin earlier this year. Their appeals were heard on November 27 in absentia of the convicted.

According to the ruling, the three Russians were found guilty of premediated actions which gravely violated public order and were accompanied with violence committed by a group of people. One of them was also charged with anti-social actions which also involved damages of property.

The youngest man, born in 1997, was convicted to one year in a correctional colony. The second Cossack was sntenced to one year in a general-security prison. The third received three years in a high-security colony.

The scandalous incident occured on July 8 in a dormitory of the agricultural college in Pinsk. Three drunken Russians beat up a local student and damaged some of his property, reports BELTA.
