Davydzka: Angry youths insulted Putin, Russia, and Belarus
Head of Belteleradiocompany Henadz Davydzka has commented again on the behavior of the Belarusian fans at a football match between the national teams of Belarus and Ukraine. As reported by Euroradio, the official called the Belarusian "young Nazis" for their solidarity with Ukraine. These statements caused a backlash among fans, and as a result Davydzka was even going to apologize to them.
In Saturday's edition of the newspaper "SB - Belarus Today" Head of BT turned to the subject again. He admitted he called the soccer fans Nazis in a bad temper and said that "the real football fans" should not take his words personally.
However, he likened the joint march of football fans in Ukraine and Belarus through Lviv with with a march of football fans in Odessa a year and a half ago. "But I can't use any other words for the angry youths who publicly insulted in the streets of Lviv Vladimir Putin, Russia, and therefore, by their behavior - Belarus. And what kind of fans are they? What links them to football? Just one thing - under the guise of "fans" they need to get together, show off, to give vent to the instincts. Even more confusing thing for them, when they do not know what it is," defended his previous statement Davydzka.
He finishes his column by the words of regret: "It is a pity that the crowd of screaming youngsters degrades the image of Belarus and spoils the mood of the true fans and athletes."
