Diplomat detained in Minsk café had secret documents
New details of Alyaksandr Alesin’s detention have been revealed.
Journalist of Belarusians and Market Alyaksandr Alesin was indicted on December 8. He is accused of violating article #356 Treason and #365.1 Revealing a state secret to a foreign state or organization or espionage. The journalist and military analyst is facing from 7 to 15 years of imprisonment now.
KGB members also detained a European diplomat in a Minsk café at the end of November, Radio Liberty reports. He had some secret documents on him and investigators are trying to find out whether the journalist is connected with the documents.
Alyaksandr Alesin’s relatives are sure that he could not have access to those documents because military experts only have access to legal documents.
The journalist is not the principal in this case. Nevertheless, he is probably jailed in KGB prison now. The investigation will continue for about a month. Alyaksandr Alesin will probably appeal for the change of his measure of detention due to health problems.
