Minister of Culture Barys Svyatlou called Belarus ‘Byelorussia’ when speaking about the Great Patriotic War. He pronounced the word on Belarus-1.

This name is often used for our country in Russia – it is done even in official documents and on the state level. However, Belarusian officials and mass media use the name Belarus even when they are speaking or writing in Russian.
