Dozens of Russian workers came to the central square of Astravets on Thursday. The fitters who participated in the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant asaid they had not been paid for two months of work, Radio Liberty reports. About 90 people are in this situation now, the Russians said. All of them were hired by a Russian company in Saint Petersburg. They came to Belarus and worked for two months here. The company paid for their accommodation and they received daily allowances. However, they have not received their wages. The workers have been told to return home to get their wages there (everyone should be paid about a thousand dollars). “We understand that if we return home, we will never get the money,” one of the workers said, “Our only chance to get paid is to stay in Belarus until they pay what they owe us.” Some of the workers do not have enough money to buy tickets.

The Russians did not sign any official contracts with their employer. They were promised to get paid more without contracts, they say.

Interestingly, the Russians are threatening ‘to tell all the truth about violations during the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
