Duce Astrozhski's memorial board unvelied in Tarasava

A memorial board in honor of Kanstantsin Astrozhski today was solemnly unveiled after a prayer in the village of Tarasava near Minsk. The Orthodox Christian Church has staged a series of events to mark 400 years since the death of Kanstantsin Astrouski, a prominent stateman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

A representative of the ancient breed of Turau Duces, Kanstantsin Astrozhski (1526—1608) received fame as an active defender of the Orthodox Xhristianity. He founded over 600 churches and 20 monasteries. He also published the first ever Bible edition in a Slavic language.

The year of 2008 is declared by the Belarusian and Polish Orthodox Christian Churches as the Year of Duce Kanstantsin Astrozhski.
