Entrepreneur from Pinsk cleared of fine by regional court

The Brest Regional Court has cancelled the verdict of the Pinsk court against Aliaksandr Vasilyeu, an activist of entrepreneurship movement. Aliaksandr Vasilyeu was detained by police on January 21 in Pinsk ahead of a protest action by local entrepreneurs. He was charged with cursing in public. However, the police officers, acting as witnesses during a court hearing, would give controversial tesimonies.

Petty hooliganizm charges were dropped, yet Vasileyu was sentenced to a fine of Br700,000 ($350) for disobeying police offices. The entrepreneur appealed the ruling in a higher court which threw out the case against the activist.

This is the fourth time when Aliaksandr Vasilyeu managed to prove that the actions of the police were not justified, reports ERB correspondent Hleb Paulouski.
