The Astravets District Court in the western Belarus is scheduled on June 1 to sit a preliminary hearing over the suit filed by the Ecodom enviornemnalist pressure group against the Directorate of the Construction of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, seeking to obtain the documents of assessment of environmental impact of the future power station. Environmentalists seek to obtain the documents in a digital or printed form. They have been requesting for the documents since November 2009, but officials refused to send them in the requested form. On February 17 they proposed that ecologists come to their office to familiarize with the information. The documents would be available only during working hours and could not be taken out of the office, reports Belapan.
