EP delegation may visit Belarus in mid June
Coordinator of the EPP Group in the Committee on Development Filip Kaczmarek has announced it in Brussels today.
The delegation will consist of six MEPs, ucpb.org reports. “We do not want Belarus to select members,” Kaczmarek noted. “The visit will not help legitimise the current parliament in any way and we are not going to ask for such a meeting especially in the House of Representatives. But we would like to meet political prisoners.”
Representatives of the Belarusian opposition met Filip Kaczmarek, vice speaker Jacek Protasevich and ex-President Jerzy Buzek in the European Parliament today. They discussed “Paletski’s resolution” and the current situation in Belarus.
