European partners protect Gazprom CEO from EU sanctions
Alexei Miller’s name has disappeared from the list of people the EU sanctions were imposed on.
Gazprom’s European partners demanded it, Vedomosti reports.
Miller could be on the black list published by the European Union on May 12. There are 13 people and two legal entities on the list – the companies Chernomorneftegaz and Feodosiya. Miller’s name was crossed out – French, German and Italian oil and gas companies had demanded it. The sanctions could complicate their cooperation with Gazprom, they claimed.
The EU sanctions against Crimean and Russian officials and companies were imposed because of the annexation of Crimea. The sanctions were expanded in response to the referendums conducted in East Ukraine.
