Ex-head of ATO headquarters General Nazarov arrested in Ukraine
He is accused of the death of 49 paratroopers.
General Victor Nazarov has been detained for two months. His bail is 365 thousand hryvnias. The general is suspected of negligence that resulted in the crash of an Il-76 over Lugansk airfield, censor.net.ua reports. 49 Ukrainian paratroopers died there.
Nazarov refuted his connection with the crash of the IL-76. The information about militants’ readiness too shoot the plane down presented by the Ukrainian Security Service arrived at the ATO headquarters too late, he said.
Nazarov cannot stay in jail due to health problems, his lawyers say. Cataract has been diagnosed in one of his eyes.
