Deadline extended for 5-star hotel completion in downtown Minsk
The new name of the hotel, previously known as Kempinski, is yet to be announced after Kempinski pulls out of talks with the developer.
The construction of the elite hotel near the circus in the heart of Minsk is now expected to have finished by the end of 2015 under the edict No 517 signed by President Aliaksandr Lukashenka on November 12, tut.by reports.
The name Kempinski has been deleted from the document. The hotel used to be called Kempinski in the past few years. However, the international hotel brand Kempinski announced a few months ago that it would not run the hotel in Minsk.
The construction began in 2010. The hotel was supposed to be finished by the World Ice Hockey Championship in May 2014. However, the term was postponed a few times.
The company Elite Estate ordered the hotel. It is a daughter company of Triple, Yury Chyzh’s group of companies. According to unofficial sources, Triple and Kempinski could not reach an agreement. The Belarusian company is negotiation with other hoteliers now.
