FIFA President may be elected on December 16
Ex-President Joseph Blatter resigned after a corruption scandal.
The new FIFA President may be elected on December 16, 2015. The election will be held in Zurich, Switzerland. The final date will be announced in July, BELTA reports.
A major scandal started in FIFA on May 27: the police detained seven higher officials on suspicion of corruption in Zurich. Their extradition to the USA where charges may be brought up against them is being discussed now.
The Swiss police have also started a criminal case against a group of unknown people connected with money laundering during the choice of hosts of the World Cups 2010, 2018 and 2022.
Joseph Blatter had to resign four days after his re-election on May 29 due to the scandal.
