Fire at Minsk zoo: at least 7 animals dead
Passers-by reported the fire at about 4.07 a.m. on Sunday.
Rescuers arrived at the zoo in Tashkentskaya Street at 4.12 a.m. The exotarium roof was burning on the territory of 70 square meters and the fire was spreading inside the buildings. The fire was extinguished at 4.53 a.m.
Several animals died – three hedgehogs, two lion-tailed macaques, a crab-eating macaque and a rusty-spotted genet. The rest of the animals and the building of the mini-exotarium were saved by rescuers.
A short circuit may to be blame for the fire, the ECM website reports.
