Foreign Ministry: Award for Alexievich will go down in history of Belarus
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus welcomes the awarding of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2015 to our compatriot, the Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich, stated the Foreign Ministry in its official commentary.
"This is the first award that was given to a citizen of our sovereign country, it will go down in the history of formation of the Belarusian nation, the society and the state," noted the Belarusian diplomatic office.
MFA also expressed confidence that "the Nobel Prize of Svetlana Alexievich will not be the last high international award for outstanding achievement in the field of Belarusian science, literature, medicine and other fields."
Svetlana Alexievich became the first citizen of Belarus to win the Nobel Prize.
Incidentally, the writer told reporters at the 4pm press conference that neither the head of Belarus, nor his ministers have congratulated her.
