FSB officer joins Ukrainian voluntary battalion (video)
Senior lieutenant of the FSB border service Ilya Bogdanov crossed the Ukrainian border in July.
He went to the SBU service in Kiev and claimed that he was a volunteer and wanted to help stop the war ‘started by Putin’s anti-national regime in East Ukraine’. Bogdanov is a Russian nationalist, a friend of the so-called seaside partisans, Radio Liberty reports. He did not want to fight Russia, he wanted to fight Putin’s regime, he claimed.
Bogdanov is a member of one of the volunteer battalions in the antiterrorist operation area. He does not regret his choice and says that there are a lot of Russians in the battalion Azov.
A criminal case for ‘treason’ has been started against him in Russia, Bogdanov said. His mother was summoned to the military procurator's office and sister – to FSB.
