'Greens' party nominates presidential candidate

The Green Party of Belarus has nominated its candidate for the presidential elections. He is Yury Hlushakow, the party's co-chairman. Mr Hlushakow stressed that his election platform would differ greatly from the other candidates. He told the Belapan news agency: "The current problems within the democratic movement are mainly linked with the fact that the opposition did not evaluate the situation properly. We should not say that all of our problems are due to one man at the top of the power.

He says they way out is to boost the democratic process, civil society and trade unions.
