Poroshenko ready to sign EU Association agreement right after inauguration
Ukraine president-elect is set to sign a free-trade deal with EU, Petro Poroshenko's press office said on June 4.
"We defended our aspiration for eurointergation in Maidan and this is the reason why I am ready to sign the economic part of the association agreement and introduce a free trade zone with the EU right after my inauguration,” censor.net.ua quotes Poroshenko.
He made the statement at a meeting with Austrian President Heinz Fischer. Thus, Poroshenko refuted the rumours that he wanted to put off the signing of the agreement.
President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy announced on June 4 that the EU and Ukraine would sign the economic part of the Association Agreement by June 27.
